Since a couple of weeks website time-outs seem to occur more frequently than before. I get the message "The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.", after having waited for some time when clicking a link/button. This can f.i. happen when I want to post a message that I wrote (very awkward timing!). In other words, the site functions well and then for a period of about 10 - 15 minutes the website does not respond. In the past this did not occur as frequently as it does now. It happens on both Firefox 9.0.1 and Internet Explorer 9.

Hello Pim,

Thanks for the post.

There are some backups:
03:30 (CST) - database backup (during about 15 minutes);
some web server logs backup in different times (during about 5-10 minutes).

- Could you try to trace what periods of day do you have these time-shots in?

Best regards.

Hello Vasiliy,

Does this mean that during these backups the website is unavailable? It may well be that the time-outs I noticed were these backups, because the time-outs were always about 5 - 15 minutes. I will keep track of time-outs I encounter and let you know of the results.

Best regards.

Hello Vasiliy,

I then have a suggestion for you: change the displayed text to "The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in 15 minutes." (italics only added for clarity purposes in this post). Users will then know it is only a short time-out and that nothing is wrong with the website.

Best regards.

I have watched the time-outs more closely and can now confirm that they only occur during the backup times.

I noticed that the text has not yet been changed. There is no urgency, I think you're busy right now with the new versions coming out, but I only wanted to remind you  ;)

Best regards.

Hello Bogdan,

Some time after writing my previous post I had noticed that the message had changed into something like "The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in about 15 minutes."(or something similar, I do not recall the exact text). However, today I got the old message "The page you are looking for is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.". Maybe you inadvertently changed the text back to the old version?

Best regards.
