Follow Us on Twitter!   Upgrade Policy Reminder I'd like to remind you that since the version 8.0 release on August 16, 2013 we have changed our Upgrade Policy (in short, from version-based to subscription-based; visit the link for details). Here are some key points highlighted to prevent possible questions or misunderstanding: The new Upgrade Policy does not force you to pay each year. When the subscription expires, the program remains registered and fully functional, so that if you don't need the latest updates then you can continue using the program as it is. And only when you see in the changelog something that worths paying then you can prolong your subscription; in other words, you can choose the moment of upgrade on your own. Purchasing an upgrade does not come at full price. For Actual Window Manager, it costs about 30 USD for now (and we don't plan to change this price in the future). Other products come at 10-15 USD, as they have the lower initial license prices. Important Note! To get a discounted upgrade price, you must use our Upgrade Center by following the steps described below. We do not force our customers to upgrade necessarily. If you don't like/need the features of new versions then you can simply stay with the version you currently have. Back to top   New Features Windows 10 Technical Preview basic compatibility is added. Actual Aero Snap is enhanced with the ability to make a window quarter monitor size by snapping it into monitor corners, like in Windows 10. Compact view for extra title buttons is now available: it displays the small narrow button instead of the full list of active buttons. This can be especially useful in non-standard windows like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Compact view in Google Chrome (list of buttons closed) Click on this button expands the list of active buttons so they can be used as usual. Second click on this button or click somewhere else collapses the list of active buttons so they do not block the view. Compact view in Google Chrome (list of buttons opened) The compact view activates either automatically (when the extra buttons do not fit the title bar) or it can be set permanently for particular windows. Quick Setup wizard is added. It allows to tune up quickly the most frequently used features without diving into details. Also, you can find new features and see new sides of using Actual Tools software. Run Quick Setup wizard from tray icon context menu In addition to a right click on extra title buttons, now you can hold the left mouse button on them for some time to invoke their extended abilities (like context menus or special dialogs). This can be handy when using Actual Tools software on devices with touch screens. The Configuration Module now can run multiple windows at once. For example, you can open several Window Settings windows using the Manage window settings title button (separate window for each settings). When several configuration windows are open at once, changes made within a particular window are isolated there until you click the Apply button in that window. Changes made in the Default window settings now are propagated automatically to all existing specific window settings (provided that the old value was the same in both Default and particular specific settings). The ability is added to specify exact secondary display position. Ability is added to specify the change interval for wallpaper slideshow in seconds. Option is added to cancel the replacement of the system Alt-Tab Task Switcher in Windows 8/8.1. Back to top   Minor Fixes and Improvements Compatibility with Windows 8.1 Update 1 has been improved. Windows 8/8.1: Actual Alt-Tab Switcher is improved: now it respects the system "Repeat delay" and "Repeat rate" values it does not activate Aero Peek until the switching is stopped for at least 1 second it can't be moved using the Easy Window Dragging/Sizing feature CPU load is reduced significantly when moving a mouse over its window redundant redraws are fixed Monitors' layout preview now properly aligns the disabled monitors. After disabling the cloning of displays, they both are automatically set to their preferred resolutions. The Arrange Monitors feature now takes into account the enabled displays only (so that if there is just a single display enabled then the Arrange Monitors button gets grayed). Compatibility of the Ignore Deactivation feature with League of Legends and Final Fantasy XIV is restored. Windows 7+: The speed of Desktop Divider layouts switching has been increased significantly and the system load has been reduced. Now it is possible to select several picture files in the Add File dialog while configuring the Slideshow screen saver. The Move the mouse pointer along with window option now works even if there are no modifier keys specified. Manage Window Settings title button is a regular button now: it can be enabled or disabled in window settings on a per-window basis as any other button. Back to top   How to Upgrade Proceed with updating to a new version, either manually or automatically with the help of the Check for Updates window. Restart the program or wait until it restarts automatically. Close the popped up Evaluation Version dialog. Follow the instructions in our Upgrade Center web page that will open automatically in your default web browser. (Note: If the Upgrade Center page did not open then skip to the next step.) Open the Configuration window. Go to the Tools - License panel and click the Upgrade button, then follow the instructions of our Upgrade Center.
