Actual Window Manager 4.3 is Vista Ready!

Actual Tools today announces the release of Actual Window Manager 4.3. The principle features of the new version include the correct work in the new Windows Vista operating system: now the program supports Vista’s visual styles when displaying the extra title buttons, saves its settings separately for each user in his/her profile, and works correctly with the Internet Explorer 7 windows. Also there is a feature designed specially for the multi-monitor clients of Windows Terminal Server.

Vista Support

The new version displays correctly its own extra title buttons in Windows Vista, using both modes: Vista Aero Basic and Vista Aero 3D. As a result, these buttons look really harmoniously with the standard ones and do not break the uniformity of the general visual Vista style. Version 4.3 enables saving configuration files in user’s profile, which allows everyone, who uses the program, to apply and edit their own settings independently of other users registered in this system, which is now required by Windows Vista user accounts policy. Besides, this version of Actual Window Manager supports the newest version 7 of such a popular browser as Internet Explorer. It means that all those window management opportunities, which Actual Window Manager previously provided for users while they worked in Internet Explorer 5/6, are now available for Internet Explorer 7.

Terminal Server Support

One more specialty in 4.3 is that it solves the problem of the so-called split windows, which may occur while using several monitors at a time. Some applications do not recognize and adjust themselves to the current number of monitors and always place their own windows right in the middle of the desktop, which in its turn leads to a situation, when one part of the window is displayed by one monitor and other parts are displayed by others. Such problems occur with the Windows system itself, when it places “yes/no” queries and some dialogs “between the monitors”. Actual Window Manager 4.3 detects such situations automatically and relocates these windows to a more convenient place: to a specified monitor or to a specified place of the desktop. This opportunity has been added specifically for working with several monitors, which is quite difficult when it comes to working in the Terminal Server environment, where Windows does not know that the client has several monitors and treats all monitors as a single large one; therefore there you have no opportunity to choose a certain monitor.
