As you know, VMware Workstation is a very convenient and powerful utility. It was developed by a group of professionals and help computer designers, programmers and commom users estimate advantages and drawbacks of diverse operational systems and different programs.

Every intelligent product requires a high price - in VMware's case it is a resource consumption. Actually, it has reputation of a bulky utility but today we would like to suggest you a nifty trick that enables to retard the resource consumption significantly.

Evolution of Actual Window Manager presented our customers the function known as Change Program Priority. The promised trick itself is grounded on this handy feature. Here are the steps to get advantage of it:

1. First of all, you'll have to create a specific window rule for the VMware Workstation application with the following Target Window properties:
Code
window class - VMUIFrame
program      - vmware.exe

2. Open the Priority property sheet. There you can define specific values for VMware. Personally I advise you to assign:

- the Below Normal priority level for the While inactive checkbox

- the Low priority level for the While minimized checkbox

3. Don't forget to save changes!

Good luck!
