In my quest to find more and more ways of saving clicks and time, I've started using Direct Folders. Its a really neat app which gives you quick access from most load/save dialogs to the most common places you keep stuff, if, like me, you detest any folder beginning with 'My' or just want to do things differently to how MS demand you should :)

Well, it works fine, but I guess something to do with how it creates its popups means that if you use it on anything other than the default desktop, it causes AWM to flick back to the default desktop.

I guess I could create a rule, but there'd be a bit of fiddling around (no way to get the target crosshairs on it for a start, as its just a popup) and I was wondering if there was a better way for AWM to handle this anyway - e.g. automatically make all popups visible on any desktop?

Cheers,

Dave.

David, it seems that time has come for you to get acquainted with the Windows Monitoring Log tool (especially please turn your attention to the second purpose of this tool). ;)

Unfortunately, there's no general solution which could allow to detect unambiguously is a given window merely momentary popup or some regular kind of window. For now, the only way to get rid of unwanted desktop switching is either creating a specific settings for a certain popup window or excluding such window's class at the program's code level (some known popup window classes, such as
Code
#32768
, are already excluded in the code of Virtual Desktops facility).
