Hi,

I've just installed AIM 5.5 beta2 and there seems to be a conflict with Sandboxie http://www.sandboxie.com

I cannot run anything sandboxed since upgrading AIM to the latest beta, even if I add the program to the exclusion list. The window of the sandboxed program hangs and I have to terminate it.

I have to exit AIm in order to be able to run anything sandboxed(stopping AIM is not sufficient)...

That's an absolute showstopper for me, please fix it as soon as possible....

Hi!

Thank you for the feedback. We have been investigating this issue and found the solution:

    1) run the Sandboxie Control

    2) select the Configure -> Edit Configuration menu item

    3) in the opened editor window go to the end of file and append there the following text:
    Quote
    Code
    [Template_Local_ActualTools]

    Tmpl.Title=Actual Tools
    Tmpl.Class=Desktop
    Tmpl.Url=http://www.actualtools.com/
    OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\*_ServiceMapping
    OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\MMF*
    OpenWinClass=*_MessengerServerWindow

    4) save the configuration file and close the editor window

    5) right-click the sandbox you're using to run your applications (I presume, this is the DefaultBox) and select the Sandbox Settings item in the context menu

    6) go to the Applications -> Desktop Utilities

    7) select the Actual Tools item (which should appear in the list of applications), then click the Add button, then click the Apply button
This should fix the hangs of sandboxed programs while Actual Window Manager is running.

Hi Alexey,

I can confirm that with the template evrything is fine again. Up to version 5.5 b1 it was working without the template though....

Thanks anyway!

Hi Max,

Actually, in B2 we significantly changed the low-level internals trying to achieve the correct and error-free unloading of our DLL (
Code
aimemb.dll
file). Those changes might cause some instability and unforeseen consequences in particular software environments (despite our thorough internal testings). Sorry for the problems, we'll try to fix them as soon as possible.

Hi,

I'd like to re-open this thread, since the template doesn't do the trick anymore. I'm using Sandboxie 3.5 and AWM 6.3

Could you please check and help me with a new template?

Thanks!

Max
