Hello Vasiliy,

This is a strange error and I hope you can help me find the cause, so it will not happen again.

Today I wanted to take a look at AWM's log window by right-clicking the AWM icon in the tray, but only the taskbar button appeared. I could not get the log window to appear. Even the Aero Preview window was blank (only one time could I see the proper preview, but I still could not get the window itself to appear). I did a lot of testing and found out that the error does not occur when I restore a back-up made February 15th, but it does occur when I restore the back-up dated February 16th. I cannot immediately tell whether and, if so, what has changed between these 2 back-ups. The number of exclusions and specific settings is the same in both. I will send you the back-ups. Maybe you have a quick tool to observe the differences between the 2 files, or you can give me some pointers as to how to do that quickly. Otherwise, it will be a lot of work with 12 exclusions and 36 specific settings  :(

What is noteworthy is that at the dates mentioned my laptop was hooked up to a second monitor, whereas today it functioned as a stand-alone. I will not be able to test the situation with the 2nd monitor until about 2 weeks from now.

My laptop runs Vista Ultimate 32-bit. When I tried to restore the February 16 laptop back-up on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit desktop I did see the log window  . However, the desktop has never been hooked up to a 2nd monitor, which might be relevant.

I also tried to delete UIPreferences.ini and let AWM rebuild that file. It did not work. What in the end did the trick was to right-click the taskbar button and select Put into and then select a desktop tile on my laptop display. After doing that the log window always appears correctly. It therefore seems the issue has to do with the placement of the window  .

Although the problem is solved I am curious as to how it happened so that I can avoid it in the future. And perhaps it is an error in AWM that you may need to solve.

Best regards.
