I have been getting several desktop manager crashes since the installation of AWM V6.7 Beta 1.

Hello Bryan,

Thanks for the post.

Have you sent error reports?

What does precede this crashes?

What OS are you running (version, x32 or x64)?

Best regards.

The Actual Windows Manage does not crash only the Desktop Windows Manager.

The skinning of the windows from window blinds gets nullified right before a crash.

I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.

It has happened on all the computers running WindowsBlinds but I have not seen it on the other 2.

The frequency is normally 1-3 times day.

Hello Bryan,

Thanks for the response.

Could you push the "send error report" (to microsoft) if the problem will occur again?

Best regards.

Hello,

I have the same problem since the update to Actual Window Manager 6.7 (and now 6.7.1). I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit with all patches applied. The Desktop Windows Manager crashes quite often. Sometimes I can revive it by stopping and restarting the UxSms service, but in some cases it instantly crashes again.

It's difficult to say what's preceding the crashes - I'm working normally (often with many open applications, but not always), and suddenly the DWM crashes.

Here's a list of some programs that are open most of the time:
  • The Bat! 5.0.20.1
  • Firefox 8.0
  • Directory Opus 10.0.2.0
Started, but no open window:
  • VueMinder Calendar Pro 8.4.1
  • Linkman Pro 8.20.0.0 (there's a toolbar open all the time)
  • Norton Internet Security 2012
  • TuneUp Utilities 2012
  • Chameleon Task Manager 3.1.0.431
  • Chameleon Startup Manager 3.4.0.761
  • klickIdent ProfiPlus 26 (an ISDN monitor)
  • RoboTask 5.0
  • AceText 2.2.3
  • Quite often: Winamp 5.622
Everything was okay before the update to Actual Window Manager 6.7. To make sure, I didn't start AWM for three days, and no crashes occurred.

I sent one or two error reports to Microsoft and will continue to do so. How does that help you? Do they contact you???

I have a ton of these reports in the archive folder (C:\Users\<My Username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive). If you like, I can send some to you.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Jan

P. S.: Sorry, just now I saw that this is the Beta forum (I found this thread via the search function).    Please feel free to move my posting to an appropriate forum.  :)

We are receiving information from Microsoft.
These reports are very helpful. Some problems have been fixed.
These fixes will be available in the 6.7.2 version of Actual Window Manager (it will be released soon). Please, keep sending these reports to Microsoft.

Best regards.

Yes, I'll do - I didn't know that Microsoft is so cooperative...  ;) And I'm looking forward to version 6.7.2 - the last three days, while abstaining from AWM, I really, really missed this great tool!

Cheers,
Jan

I updated to version 6.7.2 two days ago, and until now there haven't been any DWM crashes. Thank you very much for fixing this!   :)

Cheers,
Jan
