One of the problems with updating drivers, etc. is that sometimes the display drivers (if they're from ATI, anyway) become so messed up you have to strip everything out and start again. Its only then you realise that your machine will boot up in 640x480 mode and your desktop icons will be well and truly mangled.
Would it be possible for AWM to automatically save their position (as 'autosave' perhaps, rather than a specific named profile) on exit, so that its always possible to restore to the equivalent of a 'last known good' for each resolution?

It would surely be possible to do a periodical autosave. But I'm not quite sure if this would help during the video-driver updates.
As for the autosave on exit, we'll think about implementing this feature.
