The same way the windows guard detects the closing of third part applications via the "Prevent Accidental Closures" option, it would be be good if rather than close the application, the software was minimised.
In other words when clicking the X the software minimized automatically rather than closed.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll consider it and, possibly, will include it in our future releases.

I would like to second that idea.  It would be very nice to have an override option for the X to minimize to tray, rather than close the application.  Grouper and other software have this option for operation to keep the software from being accidentally closed, and it would be nice to have this option available for a user selection of software.

Software would have to be exited via a right click on the tray icon, or File > Exit option.

Kirk, thanks for the addendum but I suppose your request will be fulfilled automatically if we implement the minimization by the Close button because you are still able to override the standard minimization behavior using the "Minimize to" option at the "Minimizing" property sheet. Combining these two features will get the desired effect.

The feature is implemented; see the last beta to check it out. We plan to include it into the next 4.2 version of Actual Tools.
