Given the circumstances and increase in usefulness of "Actual Window Manager" since the earlier versions,
Something that I was going to program myself, I'd like to pawn off to you guys to do instead.

Matt Pandina made a program called GhostIt! that worked a long long time ago, It not only made the window transparent AND clicks and keyboard presses passed through it as if it were not even there, but you could press a special hotkey to re-enable the window that your mouse was over.

Go here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/ghost_it.html and look at the screenshot.

The IM window stays mostly transparent until you un-ghost it by pressing a hotkey.

With that feature you got my 49$
Thanks,
Jim

(by the way I couldn't get the Ghost feature that you guys currently have to work the same way)

Hello Jim,

Thanks for the post.

The IM window on the screenshot is not ghosted, it's just transparent.
Actual Window Manager has the Transparency feature: Actual Window Manager -> Window Settings -> Specific Settings (or Default Settings) -> Transparency tab.

Best regards.

Vasily: Actually it is ghosted, I've used Matt Panditas program, it will put the window always on top, and then ghost it and put transparency up so all clicks go right through it.

Can you make a shortcut to Ghost -> Always on Top -> Transparency
all with one button ?

Jim,

In Actual Window Manager, the required behavior can be achieved via Make Transparent button with the Always-on-Top and Ghost add-ins enabled.

Jim,

Please explain what did you post these links for.

Did you try the recommended Transparency add-ins? They do exactly what you requested for.

Alex: it is not ONLY transparency, The window also will not receive mouse clicks but instead passes them through to the window behind it. Thats how that video is played on top, but still it passes clicks through.
Can you add that feature:
1. Window Clicks Pass through
2. Transparent about 20%;
3. Always On Top

Jim,

The Ghost add-in makes the window pass the clicks through.

To get the requested, you should:

1. Enable the Make Transparent button.
2. Set its transparency level to 20%
3. Activate both the Always-on-top and Ghost add-ins.
