First, I'm old school and have loved using Actualtools: Actual Multiple Monitors overlay software since way back in Windows 7.  As a CAD drafter, I've always enjoyed having multiple monitors and Windows just did not offer what I really wanted, which was:
1.) save and restore icon locations on specific monitors
2.) quickly sending any active window to another monitor with either a hot key or the icon in the upper right.
3.) setting resolutions and locations of different sized monitors, quickly and easily.
4.) Having nice backgrounds with a few more features than older versions of Windows.

Windows 11 has come a long way and I suspect that their "Display Settings" is now conflicting with my beloved "Actual Multiple Monitors".

My setup is now: 3 working monitors (varying resolutions, and locations) and one 60" 4k TV monitor, all on an NVIDIA 4070i rtx video card.
My new problem started with swapping out one of the 3 27" curved monitors for a new 34" ultrawide monitor.
First problem was finding a way to get my old 27" primary (1) to become secondary (2) and the ultrawide as the new primary (1)

I made the mistake of plugging it into the #2 slot on the back of the NVIDIA card. Even though AMM will allow you to set it as the primary, and Windows did also.
It simply would not stick. Every reboot caused it to swap primary back to the old 27" monitor in the #1 slot.
So I swapped them out.
Unfortunately, the Gawfolk 34" monitor was not even recognized by the base system. It just did not turn on.
So I unplugged all the monitors execept #1 34" and it was fine.
The one by one I installed all the monitors. Set them up in Windows, then in AMM.

All was fine until I rebooted.
The 34" did turn on but it defaulted the resolution mode back to something called "Desktop Mode" at a lower screen resolution and width, plus it lost its connection to AMM settings, and a few times it would say that #1 34" was not primary!

I looked at the adapter settings and saw and error message for the Generic driver which indicated an default error.

But, at least I could go through the Display Settings and then the AMM settings would now work.
Frustrating.

I'm trying to find a new driver for the 34" but no luck so far.
Any idea's?

Hello John,

Thank you for your continuing interest to our software and for your high appreciation of it!

Your report is quite detailed and comprehensive. However, all I have to say is that, in respect of control of displays, AMM relies entirely on the underlying services provided by the system/drivers. So if any of those underlying services works incorrectly, AMM has nothing to do but accept such misbehavior.

The only workaround coming to my mind is to make a desktop profile in AMM with all the required display settings and make that profile auto-start (or, as a last resort, assign a hotkey combination to that profile to apply the required settings in a single keypress).

Hope this will help. Of course, it's a temporary solution until you find a proper fixed driver.
