When trying to install Actual Multiple Monitors 8.12, I receive an error:  c:\Program Files (x86)\Actual Multiple Monitors\Actual Multiple Monitors.scr

An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory:  MoveFile failed; code 5.  Access is denied.

I have modified the permissions for the folder so that my user, administrators, and TrustedInstaller, all have full control of the folder.  Can I do this rename manually?  None of the files it is trying to rename end up in the folder.

Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1, 64 bit.

I ran the install as administrator.

Should I try installing in a folder other than Program Files (x86)?

I uninstalled, rebooted, created a new folder and then installed in that folder.  Same error.  This indicates to me that the problem is not with permissions on the folder.

Hello, Lee

Have you checked whether the folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Actual Multiple Monitors\ was still there after uninstalling the program? Could you maunally delete it if it's there and try to install 8.12 again?

Best regards.

Yes.  I deleted and installed again.  Same errors appeared.  I also tried installing in a folder that was not a subfolder of Program Files.  Same error.

I would like to purchase Actual Multiple Monitors but I need to know that I will be able to install it successfully.  As of now I can only do a partial install.

Hello, Lee

It seems like we've figured out what causes the problem and it's associated with peculiarity of Windows operating systems. Many users on the Internet report similar problems with different applications caused by disabling of the Application Experience service (although disabling of the service doesn't cause problems on every computer). We've managed to reproduce your problem by disabling the service. Could you enable it and see whether it solves the problem?
This article provides the description of several ways you can enable the Application Experience service.

Best regards.

The Application Experience was already enabled.  I tried several times with it enable and several times with it not enabled and had the same result.  Just now I downloaded again and encountered the same error.

Lee,

Could you see whether the Program Compatibility Assistant Service (PcaSvc) is enabled in your system, and if it's not, then enable it and see whether it solves the problem?

Also, do you mean you was able to install the program despite the error that appears during the installtion?

Best regards.

Yes the Program Compatibility Assistant service is running.  I was able to install the program by telling it to skip the files it could not install.  However, the features regarding the screen savers do not work.  You can see these in the screenshots I provided.
