Hi, I am using Actual Multiple Monitors on a dual-monitor setup. Now, I want one of the 2 monitors to be splitted again, so that I can simulate 3 monitors.

Is this possible with Actual Multiple Monitors? If so, how to set it up?

Using AMM 8.8.3, Windows 7 64bit

Hello, Mathijs

Unfortunately, Actual Multiple Monitors doesn't have such feature. Could you tell me why do you need it and how you're going to apply it? Probably other features could partially replace this one and suit your needs.

Best regards.

Hello,

I am a software test engineer and I need to validate UI screens on a tested application.
Therefore 1 need 3 screens:
screen 1: displays the UI as designed (something like Powerpoint presentations);
Screen 2: displays the actual application to be tested;
screen 3: displays the testscript (something like word/excel/Jira)

Because screen 1 and 2 need to be on full screen (to prevent validation issues caused by scaling if not set on full screen), I need to have access to third screen to view/edit the testscript.

Maybe I need an actual physical third monitor. Does AMM support 3 monitor setup?

Regards,
Mathijs

Yes, AMM supports 3 monitor setup.

Is it necessary to have these windows open as full-screen or it's enough that they have the same size?

Not sure about that yet. If full screen is necessary than probably need to have 3 monitor setup. Otherwise I can work with 2 monitors and have the windows open in same size.

However, is there a special tool/best approach for setting fixed window sizes (same size) on a particular screen?

Yes, Actual Multiple Monitors provides several features that let you manage size and position parameters of a window in a flexible way.

You can set a particular window to be opened in the same size and position on each window's startup. But probably in your case the Desktop Divider feature will suit your needs better: it allows dividing monitors in the custom areas, in which windows can be easily put by dragging or pressing hotkey. For example, you can divide one of your screen in half creating two identical tiles, and put the windows in these tiles being sure they have the same size.
You can learn more about this feature here.
