I have been trying to change the amount of time before the screen saver starts up. I am using Windows 7 Enterprise. The control panel for the screen saver shows that the sel ected screen saver is "Actual Windows Manager Slideshow". The wait time in the same window shows 5 minutes but is disabled. So, I will go to the screen saver screen in AWM (8.6.2). I can and do change the wait time to 15 minutes and click "Apply". The values stays at 15 minutes. I will then click "OK" and close the window. I can then immediately re-open the AWM and the screen saver wait time will again be set to 5 minutes.
How do I get this setting to stay set to the value I enter?
Is something fr om my system somehow overriding my set wait time?
Thanks for you help in advance.

Hello, Kendall

What do you mean by "is disabled"? Is the Wait option inactive? Could you send us a screenshot of the Windows Screen Settings window?
Are you able to change the screensaver in the Windows Screen Settings window from Actual Windows Manager Slideshow to any other standard Windows screensaver?

Yes, I can change the screen saver to any other available option. But the Wait time stays disabled.
And, yes, I attached a screen capture.

Kendall,
Wait time option can be grayed out if the screensaver has been set via Local Group Policy Editor or via Registry Editor for "All Users". Have you set the screensaver using one of this methods? Maybe it is your work computer and IT department sets PCs this way?

Yes, I have located in the registry where I can modify ScreenSaveTimeOut. I have to change this every time the machine boots. After doing so, I can check the wait time and it has changed to the new value. I usually change the key value to 900 which shows up as 15 minutes in the "Wait" time.
However, when I go in AWM and check the setting it will still say 5 minutes. I change it as well to say 15 and click apply and it appears to stay. But if I close the AWM window and then re-open it, the time has changed back to 5 minutes.
I have also tried shutting down and re-starting AWM after changing the registry. The Wait time for the screen saver will still show 5 minutes.

Kendall,
Do you mean that wait time returns to 5 minutes after each reboot?
Does your Windows user account have administrative access rights?
It looks like user with administrative access rights entered a single screensaver timeout setting (5 minutes) for all other users of that computer or network, and you aren't able to change this setting. Am i right?
