I am running Win7-64 with 8GB of ram, and a high end CAD Video card from NVidia (Quadro 5010M), the processor is an Intel Core I7-2860QM. I am also running a registered seat of Actual Windows Manager (AWM) 8.0.3. Most of the applications run on this machine are MS Office and various CAD suites.
Periodically, AWM 'Freezes' when I attempt to move between desktops (by this I mean that the "Virtual Desktop Switcher" gray's out and I get a "Not Responding" indication in it's title bar). When this occurs, I am unable to switch from one desktop to another by any means (keyboard command to shift one desktop in a given direction, keyboard command to go to a specific desktop, or mouse click on the "Virtual Desktops Switcher"). The freeze can last anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes. Any application(s) open in the current window are still accessible and functional, but nothing I have tried thus far will allow me to switch to another desktop until AWM thaws out. I have seen this phenomenon in my registered seat of AWM version 7.x, but it didn't happen very often at all. With the version 8, I seems to happen multiple times each day.
This effect is quickly make AWM a productivity loss instead of the productivity gain that it is when it works properly.
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

Good day,
Could you please specify which actions lead to the freezing of Virtual Desktops and which programs are launched when the freezing occurs?
Any questions?Mail to support@actualtools.com!

Alexander,
I will almost always be running Outlook and at least one web browser (Opera primarily, and Internet Explorer when I have too) opened at all times. There will also probably be at least one instance of Excel running different files on various different desktops. Ocasionally there will be an instance of Word open. Each of these will probably be on a different desktop (I have configured AWM to have eight). I will use MS Visio 2010 quite often as well. I also use Altium (a rather significant Electronic CAE/CAD/CAM package), and rarely a seat of AutoCAD Inventor could be opened. When I think of it, I would also have VLC or Media Player opened to listen to music via bluetooth or USB headphones. There are almost always half a dozen File Explorer windows opened on various desktops. I am also required to participate in remote meetings, which require Skype, which may or may not include the use of a webcam.
I have noticed a couple of other "effects" associated with the Desktop Freeze. First each time the program freezes up, the Virtual Desktops Switcher will "Jump" a few pixels down and to the right when I click on the desktop I want to switch to. Secondly, the "Freeze Up" may also be associated with how fast I switch from one Desktop to another. If I need information for an E-Mail, I may have to switch to another Desktop, copy the information to the clipboard, and then switch to another Desktop (back to the E-Mail Destop, or another desktop to use the information I just copied to the Clipboard).
I also not that when the Desktop backgrounds change, the system seems to thaw out. It will thaw out before the change most of the times, but a background change seems to free everything up.
I must also emphasize that AWM did not do this when I originally installed the program. I don't know what has happened recently, but I am becoming more and more frustrated by having to sit on my hands for minutes at a time because the Virtual Desktops have frozen up.
Thank You in advance for assistance
