I just upgraded to 8.0.3, and now have ghost titlebuttons drawn on desktop - see attached image of the top left corner of the screen. The artefacts are completely non-responsive, but are drawn over the top of any maximised window, obscuring the control button. But I can still click the control button 'through' these artefacts.

Stopping AWM makes them vanish, but they are drawn again on resuming AWM. Any idea how I can find out what they belong to? I presume it's a non-visible window that needs to be excluded...

Thanks,

David.

Hmm. Sorry - I just rebooted, and it's gone :) I've seen it several times, so presumably there's some window which gets created by something I'm doing. I'll try and keep an eye out for what triggers it, and post back (if I find it).

Thanks,

David.

So, this glitch has been on and off during the 8.0.3 beta period, but that expired and I just upgraded to 8.1b2. The glitch is back in full swing - in fact it's now twice as annoying as it was before - see attached screenshot of FreeCommander (maximised).

The glitch is always top left of the screen, and doesn't change or move with application windows. _Sometimes_, an application's window will be drawn on top of the glitch (making it invisible), but it's always there on the desktop and sometimes it pops to the top of the Z stack again. I still haven't noticed a pattern or consistent way of producing / hiding it.

The other things of note since first reported are:

* Upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro 64 - no noticeable difference
* I'm using 'Start Menu 8' fr om IOBit, so effectively booting straight to desktop (I've been doing this since Win 8.0 though)

Could it have anything to do with the active area at the top of the screen in Win8 where the mouse cursor changes to a hand and allows you to drag the desktop into a sort of split-screen thing (sorry - I've really no idea or interest in whatever MS called their bodge of a meaningless interface for any serious PC user)?

Hi again David,

Could you please specify the version and the name of the program you have encountered a glitch with?
Also, please test if adding the program to Exclusions solves the problem

Well, I would if I could work out which program it was. I was hoping there might be a way to get AWM to list all the windows it has drawn titlebuttons for - I suspect it's drawing them for a non-windowed app somewhere. As stated in the original post, the extra buttons appear to be drawn on the desktop (i.e. they're visible with no other application windows open), and often obscure the control button of a maximised windows. They don't respond to clicks of any kind, and since upgrading to Win 8.1 and AWM 8.1b2, there are now 2 sets as shown in the latest post, drawn next to each other and slightly overlapping.

Hello David,

Could you run Windows Task Manager, end processes one by one and check whether ending one of processes makes these title buttons disappear or not?
