I suddenly started getting the following Application Error:
Exception EAccessViolation in module ammem64.dll at 00000000001448E9.
Access violation at address 0000000008DC48E0 in module 'ammemb64.dll'. Read of address 0000003D00000008.

Any idea of how to fix this

What OS are you running (version, 32 or 64-bit)?
What version of Actual Multiple Monitors are you running?
What steps cause the problem appearing?

I have a similar problem with Actual Window Manager 7.5.1. Every now and then the desktop icons show up in different positions on startup, so I use the "Save desktop icons order" and "Restore desktop icons order" features. This always worked fine, I just used it a few days ago.

Today I klicked on "Restore desktop icons order" after Windows startup and got the message

After klicking "OK", the normal Windows taskbar and the desktop icons disappeared - obviously the Explorer crashed. The AWM taskbars were still visible on my secondary and tertiary monitor, but the AWM start buttons didn't work. <Win>+<R> didn't work either, so I couldn't restart the Explorer or start any program manually. I could open the task manager though, so it was no complete crash. The Windows sidebar and the Linkman toolbar were still active, too, but other open applications vanished (in my case the e-mail client "The Bat!" - I could see the process in the task manager, but the program window had gone).

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with all patches applied. Yesterday evening the new Windows patch KB2840149 was installed, the replacement for KB2823324 (see http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/microsoft-re-releases-botched-patch-kb-2840149-problems-remain-217213). I read that deinstalling KB2823324 before installing KB2840149 would have been a good idea, but since the patches are installed automatically on my system, I wasn't able to do this (I didn't know that the older patch caused problems on several systems).

I deinstalled both patches, but the problem persisted; so it did after reinstalling the newer patch only. But as mentioned in the infoworld.com article, the new patch seems to be problematic, too. Maybe that's the cause of the AWM issue.

Two days before, I installed IE10 via Windows Update. I'm not sure if I used the "Restore desktop icons order" feature after that; otherwise this could be another possible cause for the problem.

If you find out anything about this issue, it would be nice if you could inform us here.  :)

Unfortunately we were unable to find out anything about this problem.

Does it happen every time you're trying to restore desktop icons order?

As it turned out the problem has been fixed, but the fix wasn't included in the version 7.5.1.

Please wait for the next version.

Yes, it happened every time I tried to use this feature.

Just to bring this to an end: I installed version 8.0 beta 3 yesterday, and it works again; the error message has gone.  :)
