Hi guys - sorry I've been away for a while - just life getting in the way of important things like AWM :)

Anyway, I just upgraded to V7.1, hoping that some of my issues with 6.x would have gone away, and sadly at least one is still there, as far as I can tell. Having said that, there are so many cool new features to play with, I've been a bit distracted, so perhaps I just haven't found it yet.

I use the Yammer desktop app, which is based on Adobe Air. When it starts, it opens the window, which I really don't want it to do, but I haven't found a preference to fix that in the app itself. So I configured an AWM rule which, on Startup:

  • Resizes it to 575px wide
  • Sets it's 'Stay on top' status
  • Closes the window

I also have rollup set, and all works fine, except the app stubbornly stays there on launch until it has gained and lost focus at least once - then it closes. Just for the record, I'm using XMouse from TweakUI, so in fact all I have to do is mouse over Yammer to give it focus, then mouse over something else to cause it to close - but often I don't have anything else open either on my startup desktop.

The version numbers are:

  • Yammer client: 300222
  • Yammer Site 2.9.4.0
  • Adobe Air: 3.3.0.3650

Many thanks,

David.

Hello David.

Could you give me a screenshot of the mentioned window?

Best regards.

Try to use the option "Delay before closing" (the Yammer specific settings > Startup > the Close action > the "Delay before closing" checkbox in the "Action Options").

You can vary and try some values of delay, looks like 0,5 sec is quite enough.

Best regards.

I've applied the delay setting - do you still need a screenshot? I'll test it on next boot (be a week now, as I'm away).

Thanks,

David.

Hello David.

No, i think screenshot isn't necessary now.

Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.

Best regards.

Delay of 0.5s seems to work - but obviously Yammer does still come up and start loading before it is closed. Shame it can't be done without the flickering. I'll try reducing the delay a little and see what I can get away with...

Thanks,

David.

Hello David.

Try to disable the delay of closing and enable the compatibility mode (Startup > the Options area > the Block premature appearance of window option > compatibility mode).

Best regards.

Doh! Many thanks for suggesting that - something I'd looked at and dismissed, as I'd thought it only applied to moving, resizing, etc. It hadn't occurred to me that it might influence how Close works too. No flickering of the window now - all is quiet on the Yammer front :)

Thanks again,

David.
