If I have a program set to minimize to the screen, is there a way to have two or more screen buttons for the program?

Hello Mike.

Do you mean, is there a way to have individual screen button for each instance of program? Yes, you can have as many buttons as you wish.

Best regards.

Hello Bogdan,

No, I'd like to have a second (duplicate) screen button for a single instance of a program.

Hello Mike.

Unfortunately, there is no way to get it. Why do you need the duplicate screen buttons? Could you give me an example of applying of this feature?

Best regards.

The main reason I'd like to have a second screen button for some apps is that the buttons do not remain in front (on top of) program windows reliably. When I've placed screen buttons so that they're on top of a program window, they quite frequently aren't visible when I need them. If this could be fixed, I could manage with just one button. However, since the buttons are frequently ending up behind the program windows, I need a second button elsewhere on the desktop that's always visible.

My primary monitor is large -- 28 inches. I keep a half dozen screen buttons close to the right edge of my primary monitor, but I'd also like to be able to place a button for my web browser and one for my email client so that they are in the area of the upper-right corner of the window just below the titlebar. I use AWM to manage these windows, so they're always in the same position. Therefore, I can place the screen buttons relative to the program windows so that they don't get in the way of any of the program UI components.

As frequently as I switch back and forth between my web browser and my email client, it's annoying to have to move the mouse cursor all the way to the right edge of the screen and back, but the edges are the only areas that are rarely behind program windows. Placing the screen buttons on top of the program windows avoids moving the cursor to the edges all the time.

Hello Mike.

This behavior of the screen icon is quite strange. It must be always displayed over all windows if the "On top" option on the Minimizing tab is enabled.

How often and with what applications does it happen (what windows does overlap the screen icon)?

Best regards.

Hello Bogdan,

I've had the same problem at times with all of the buttons for apps I've got set to minimize to screen buttons. They end up not being on top (all of them have On top checked). It's intermittent, but it's pretty frequent. These are the apps I use screen buttons for:

Avant (web browser)
Outlook Express
File Locator Pro
XYPlorer
Elpis
Chameleon Task Manager
Cactus Spam Filter (Training Arena window)
AWM Configure window

I see the problem with the buttons not staying on top the most with Avant and Outlook Express, but that's probably because those are the two I use the most.

Two that I'm sure about are Avant and Outlook Express. I've seen it happen with others, but I don't remember which ones.
