Installed AWM this morning, newest version, running Win7 64bit.
Chrome Version 54.0.2840.99 m (plugins are AddBlockPlus and Ghostery)

While in Chrome, I went to Amazon to shop. I went to sel ect a filter fr om a dropdown selection on the web page.  Instead of the dropdown list showing up below the little arrow button as is usual, the selection list is moved off of the chrome window and up into the top left corner of my primary monitor - under the start menu bar.

I have tried moving the chrome window to another screen, and still clicking on the dropdown in chrome on screen 2 will have the dropdown list show up in the top left corner of the primary monitor (1).  Same for monitor 3.  It also does this for my AddBlockPlus plugin when I open it (even if chrome is on any monitor).  It does it for Ghostery, but only if the chrome window is on the primary monitor.

I checked this forum entry, and verified that my settings were the same for chrome, but this does not fix my issue.

I have tested this in Firefox, and there is no problem with the way it handles dropdown boxes and additional dialog boxes.

Hello, Brad

Looks like the Move to monitor option of the Default Settings is applied to these dropdown menus. Disable this option (Configuration module > Window Settings > Default settings > Startup tab > Move to monitor) and see whether the problem has gone to check whether this is the reason of this behavior.

Best regards.

Bogdan,

Thanks for your reply.

This is what I thought at first too.  And indeed, that was how I originally had my settings for the window until I learned about the "put into divider tile" option within the settings.  I have disabled the "move to monitor" setting and enabled the "put into divider tile" option, but something is out of whack.

I had to completely delete the rule from the system in order to clear it out.  Now I have it working correctly.

So, it appears that your system has a bug in that it does not properly 'forget' the old settings for windows once they are disabled and new ones selected.  This is something that you should fix when you get the time.

Brad,

Do you mean, you've changed the Target Window settings in the rule for Chrome windows as it specified in the topic you've provided a link to, but these changes weren't applied? Or do you mean, you disabled the "Put into divider tile" option in the rule and these changes weren't applied?

Have you pressed the Apply button both in the Specific Settings window and the main configuration window?

Best regards.

What I mean is that I have verified that all of the 'Specific' settings for each of the programs only has ONE user selected option, and that is "move to divider tile".  I have deleted all of the rules and started from scratch, ensuring that I have only made ONE change to the 'Specific' settings for each program.

It is not clear if there is a special workflow for some of these settings.  I've read here, and in other posts, that even though you may only make changes in one section (like specific settings), somehow the user is also supposed to know that they should click on 'Apply' in another window that you are not working in (like the Default Settings window).  It is also not clear if I need to do this "double apply clicking" for every time I make a change to an individual setting, or if I can change ALL of my specific settings and then click apply?

Is there a chance that the dropdown menu windows were moved because of the "Move to divider tile" action? Did the place they were moved to match the tile, specified for this action in the Settings?

You need to make changes in a Specific Settings window and then hit Apply for this window. Then you can make changes this way in other Specific Settings. When you finish to change Specific Settings, you need to hit Apply in the main configuration window in order for these changes to take effect.

Best regards.

Yes, the dropdowns are moving directly to the divider tiles that the programs are assigned to with the specific settings.

I can move the program to an entirely different screen, and still the dropdown menus are moving to the top left corner of the divider tile they are assigned to.

How do I stop it from doing this?  I want the programs to open in the assigned divider tiles, but I don't want every single 'object' of that program to be assigned to coordinates 0,0 of that divider tile.

Reply from a tech support email:

These Google Chrome's pop-up windows have the same window class
(Chrome_WidgetWin_1) and program (\chrome.exe) criteria as the main Google Chrome's window. You have Specific Settings for Google Chrome and the specific settings are applied to the pop-up windows as well. You should enable the Window Caption criterion in the Specific Settings 1 (Actual Window Manager -> Window Settings -> Specific Settings -> Specific Settings
1 -> Target Window tab ->  Window Caption) and set it = "- Google Chrome"
(Substring match) without quotes.

Brad,

The tech support reply is exactly the same, as my reply in other topic that you referred to in your first message in this topic:

As i assumed before, the specific settings for Chrome window are applied to the sub-windows. This happens because the Window caption criterion is disabled in the Target Window section of specific settings for Chrome. It is enabled in the standard specific settings for Chrome and it is a recommended setting. To prevent this from happening enable this criterion and specify "Google Chrome" in the text field and also select the "Substring match" option. The specific settings will be applied only to the Chrome windows which caption text contains "Google Chrome" text ie main Chrome windows.

I thought you have managed to solve this problem, as you wrote before:

Did you send the configuration files to tech support? If you still have this problem, then send your configuration files using the Send to Tech Support tool (Configuration module > Tools > Configuration > Send to Tech Support). Please add a link to this topic to the text of the email.

Yes, this is working now.

Sorry for the late response.  Your help via email was exactly what I needed.
