I enabled Virtual Desktop in AWM8.2.2 on Windows 8.1. It works fine until it goes to sleep mode. After waking from sleep mode, the Virtual Desktop Switcher is gone and I can not use it until I restart the software which is pretty annoying... Is this know issue ? Is there any solution for this ?

Hello tono777,

Thanks for the post.

No, this is an unknown issue.

Are you able to invoke the Virtual Desktop Switcher using hotkeys or AWM's tray icon context menu item (Show Switcher)?

Are you running Windows 8.1 32 or 64-bit?
Do you use Sleep, Hibernate or Hybrid mode?
Please specify your Power Scheme settings (Dim the display, Turn off the display).
Does it matter if your system was  in the sleep mode for 30 seconds or for 30 minutes?

Best regards.

Hi Vasiliy,

No, I tried both of them and none of them worked.

> Are you running Windows 8.1 32 or 64-bit?

Windows 8.1 64bit

> Do you use Sleep, Hibernate or Hybrid mode?

Sleep mode. I disabled Hibernate (I'm not sure about hybrid mode).

> Please specify your Power Scheme settings (Dim the display, Turn off the display).

It's a desktop PC and the display is never be turned off.
Since I use the desktop all day, I only put it in sleep mode before I sleep and
wake up in the morning.

I tested and it doesn't matter. I put it in sleep mode only for a 30 seconds,
then the virtual desktop is disabled after wake up.

Best Regards,

tono777,

Could you please send us your configuration files (Actual Window Manager -> Tools -> Configuration -> Send to Tech Support)?

Best regards.

Vasiliy,

I sent the configuration file with some additional info to support@actualtools.com.

BTW, I have 2 monitors (4k monitor and Full HD TV) and enabled the virtual desktops only on the 4k monitor.

Thanks,

I found out that the issue was nothing to do with the sleep mode. Last 2 days, I didn't put my pc to sleep mode and left it up whole night. After I woke up, I saw that the vitual desktop is gone as well. Is there any timeout in Actual virtual desktop if I don't use it for a while ?

Chad, I was unable to find your subscriptions. What email are you receiving these messages on (you are able to send a message with your email address to support@actualtools.com with a reference to the post)?

tono777, I asked you some questions regarding this issue via email. Did you reply that message?
