On my secondary screen taskbar, when I select auto-hide, the taskbar hides, but I cannot get it back.  There is no thin line at the bottom of the screen which rest the mouse on and make the taskbar appear.  It should be noted, that this worked fine until I selected "Replace the primary Taskbar".  When I selected this, Windows explorer errored out and restarted.  Then the task bar on the secondary monitor started displaying this behavior.  I unselected "Replace the primary Taskbar" and the problem persisted.  I uninstalled and reinstalled Actual Multiple Monitors and the problem persisted.

I am running:

Windows 7 Enterprise with the latest/greatest patches.
Actual Multiple Monitors 5.0.3

My secondary monitor is 1680x1050 and runs off of a USB display adapter (Sabrent USB-2011) with run the latest drivers.

Hello Carl

Are you able to bring the secondary taskbar somehow? Have you tried to press the Win button with the cursor on the secondary monitor?

Also try to use the "Unhide taskbars" button (Multiple Monitors > Taskbar). Does the taskbar appear?

Have you tried to disable/enable autohide on the secondary taskbar?

Best regards.

I've tried this and yes, the taskbar does appear when I press the Win button on my keyboard.

I tried this.  When I click on 'Unhide taskbars" I can get the taskbar to appear when I move my mouse pointer to the bottom of the secondary screen.  Once I move the mouse off of the taskbar, it disappears again and I does not reappear unless I perform one of the actions mentioned here.  I really want it to appear when I move the mouse to the bottom of the screen.

Yes, I've tried this - it did nothing.

The odd thing about all of this is that it worked fine until I enabled the Actual Monitors taskbar on screen 1, then when I experienced the taskbar issues on screen 2, I disable the taskbar on screen 1 and I am in the situation I'm in now.

I resolved this problem.  I realized that this problem started occurring right after I upgraded to 5.0.3.  I uninstalled 5.0.3 and then reinstalled 5.0.2 and the problem went away - the taskbar on my second monitor was back!  Woo Hoo!

Then to test this theory, I re-installed 5.0.3 and my taskbar once again disappeared.  I uninstalled 5.0.3 and went back to 5.0.2 and my taskbar was back.

So, for now I will be sticking with AMM 5.0.2.

Hello Carl

What version of Windows 7 are you running - 32 or 64-bit?

I was unable to reproduce the issue.

Send us your configuration files using the Send to Tech Support tool.

Best regards.

I am running Windows 7, 64-bit.  Config files have been sent via the Tech Support Tool.  As a reminder, if I do not auto-hide the task bar in AMM 5.0.3, the taskbar works fine.  When I auto-hide the taskbar on the second display, that is then it it disappears (the thin line at the bottom of the screen is missing and moving the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen does nothing).  If I make any changes to the taskbar settings (in either AMM or the Windows 7 interface), the taskbar will appear if I move my mouse to the bottom of the second screen - but it will only appear once, then the behavior is the same as previously mentioned.

Good news, Actual Multiple Monitors 5.0.4 seems to have resolved this issue.

PROBLEM SOLVED!! The most recent update for AMM, 5.0.4, has solved this issue for me. The task bar now appears at start up. Thanks.

Dear Michael,

thank you for your post!

In addition to my reply to you in that thread, please tell me if possible - did this problem appear only in 8.2? Was it present in 8.1.4?

Best regards.
