Latest beta on win7x64

Sometimes standard windows mouse behaviour changes, for example a double click suddenly results in a right click... There's no way to get rid of it, other than log off and log in again...

It HAS to do with AWM, is it never occurs when AWM is not running.

I tried to track it down, but it is difficult to reproduce it.

What I can say for sure is:

I use Vienna Ensemble Pro 5 and Cubase 6.5.4, both x64
In cubase, I insert the VEPro5 VST plugin and open its UI window .
I connect to running VEPro5 server instance (x64) on the local machine and hit "raise". This button brings up a VEPro5 server UI window on the local machine. I hit "raise" again and since then windows mouse and keyboard is weird...this is only when AWM is running... It does not matter wether I exclude any of the logged windows within this process... The only way it does NOT happen is, when default window rule is inactive, but then, neither snap or desktop tiles apply...

This way AWM is near useless to me, sorry to say.

Any chance this can be fixed? Let me know how I can help, it is very important. Currently, I can either use VEPro5, or AWM.

Hello TabSel.

Does it happen with the last non-beta stable AWM release (7.2)?

Are these behavior changes always the same? Could you clarify what exactly changes happen with mouse and keyboard behavior?

Please disable Desktop Divider without disabling Default Settings and check whether it solves the problem.

Best regards.

It looks like the <Alt> Key got stuck, I guess.

I already reverted back to 7.2 yesterday and did not notice this since.

Could you please temporarily install the latest beta and disable Desktop Divider without disabling Default Settings just to check whether this bug is associated with Desktop Divider?

Best regards.

yes, it seems to be associated to the desktop divider. I dod not notice this malbehaviour whith disabled desktop divider in 7.3ß1

btw, anything new to some feature requests like
- taskbar "super hide" http://actualtools.com/forum/read.php?FID=12&TID=1979&MID=8465&sphrase_id=69689#message8465
- preventing menu/tooltip spanning http://actualtools.com/forum/read.php?FID=12&TID=2196&MID=9412&sphrase_id=69690#message9412
- more ways of identifying windows: http://actualtools.com/forum/read.php?FID=12&TID=1986&MID=8535&sphrase_id=69692#message8535

with 7.3ß1 I also noticed:
- sometimes additional window title bar buttons won't show, unless I "mouse over" the area whewre they usually are displayed. (happens mainly in explorer and internet explorer windows)
- save/restore desktop icons order doesn't work quite right, some icons won't be restored as I saved them. I guess, this is because I have the taskbar(s) set to autohide...?

- and the bug "destroyed window caption" ist still present, as mentioned here: http://actualtools.com/forum/read.php?FID=10&TID=2056&MID=9999&sphrase_id=69691#message9999

seems to happen in 7.2 with enabled desktop dividers, too. Noticed this after again reverting back to 7.2 just yet.
did not happen with disabled desktop dividers in 7.2 since...

Hello TabSel.

I was unable to reproduce the issue with Vienna Ensemble Pro 5, because it's impossible for us to get the demo version of this product due to its complicated licensing system. For now i can't say whether we're able to fix this issue, maybe we'll need your assistance.

The feature requests that you're wondering about won't be implemented in the new beta version. It's hard to say when they will be implemented.

Could you give me the steps to reproduce the issues with AWM 7.3 beta 1.

Best regards.

the demo is downloadable here: http://www.vsl.co.at/de/211/497/1685/1990/1991/1680.htm

however, you need an eLC USB dongle, like the one shipped with Steinberg Cubase for example.

I'll try to give you a step by step explanation this evening, but how can this help you track it whithout VEPro5 running?

What else can I do to help you? I have a little knowledge of windows programming, MS VC++ 2010 installed here...

step by step, reproducable bug, assuming you have VEPro5 installed, running Win7Profx64, AWM 7.2 or 7.3ß1:

1) make sure "Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (64-bit)" is running
2) start any x64 VST2.x hosting software. For instance, Reaper 4 (x64), make sure the VST2 Plugin "Vienna Ensemble Pro" is scanned by and available to the host software. (if you have questions on this, please say so)
3) add a track to the reaper project (menu "Insert"->"Virtual Instrument on new track")
4) a dialog window will open with a list of available VST plugins, search for "Vienna Ensemble Pro" and double click it
5) confirm the dialog with "no": a new track will be inserted and a floating fx dialog window will appear with the Vienna Ensemble Pro plugin UI
6) in the Vienna Ensemble Pro UI click "connect", the UI will show you a list with running Vienna Ensemble Pro Servers (see 1)
7) click any server once and hit "connect" below, wait a little, the UI changes back and says "connected" in green

8) now hit "raise" bottom left, a Vienna Ensemble Pro Server window will open

for testing purpose: hit <windows>-M, which will minimize all windows and shows the desktop. bring back the reaper app window and

9) hit "raise" again. Since then, it seems the alt key is stuck... for testing purpose: hit <windows>-M again, which will no more minimize all windows. double click a desktop icon and you'll get the properties-dialog, instead of running the program... etc...

this only applies with active desktop dividers.

There's no way to get the normal behaviour back, no stopping or exiting of AWM will help. The only way to recover from this is to log off and on again...
