 Hello,

I've noticed an anomaly using a product called Directory Opus.  When I open a new DO window it opens behind all other windows and the windows icon is flashing in the task bar.  I need to the window to open and gain focus but I do not want to set it as always on top.  I did try putting an exception in for DO the exception worked to exclude DO but it did not resolve the problem.  One thing to note is the DO window is opened by double clicking on the desktop.  I wonder if that may be related to the issue.

Configuration details:
Win7 Ultimate x64 w/all current updates applied.
Directory Opus x64 v10.1.0.0
AWM v7.1

I have duplicated this on 2 separate workstations. How can I/we go about resolving this?

 Hello Kelly

I was unable to reproduce the issue.

Do you use the specific settings for DO? It looks like the "Send to bottom" option is enabled (Startup tab). If it is, then disable it.

If it is not, please send us your configuration files using the "Send to Tech Support" tool.

 I do not use specific settings for DO and I have made virtually no changes from the default settings but I will submit my configuration files as suggested.

I did try having a DO exception to exclude it completely but it did not help.  I seem to be able to easily reproduce this on two systems.

I was unable to reproduce this issue using your configuration files but i've reproduced the other one: when Actual Window Manager is launched it's impossible for me to launch DO with double-click on the desktop until i change this option of DO to "disable", apply settings and then change back to "open the default lister" and apply settings again.

How does DO window open in the cases when AWM is paused and when AWM is not launched at all?

Have you tried to launch DO with the desktop icon not with double-click on desktop?

 I'm sorry but I'm confused a little bit by your reply.  You say you couldn't reproduce my problem but you could reproduce the problem with it not working from a double click on the desktop.  The DO window opening behind all other windows when opened by double clicking on the desktop is the only problem I am reporting. :)

Yes, if I launch it NOT using the desktop double click method it opens normally.  However, I use the desktop double click method exclusively a LOT so I would really like to find a workaround or fix for this.  I've used DO for many years and follow the DO forums and I think the desktop double click method is by far the most common way DO users open a new window   .

I will be happy to work with you to test or try out any workarounds or fixes if you have any ideas.  Since you can reproduce it that should help a lot in finding a resolution.

How does DO window open in the cases when AWM is paused and when AWM is not launched at all?

It seems like some third-party software keeps focus on itself and doesn't let DO gain focus. Try to disable all the programs you have and see how DO works then.

 Sorry for the delay somehow I missed there was a reply.

If I EXIT AWM the DO window opens (GainFocus) normally. On top of other open Windows.
If I STOP AWM or AWM is running normally the DO window opens behind all other windows with its taskbar icon flashing.

I'm not sure I understand your point about other 3rd party software interference. I thought that meant you were able to reproduce this issue there, is that correct?  If so what 3rd party software are you running that might affect this behavior?

Please let me know how we need to proceed to resolve this.  I'm sorry if I have misunderstood your previous comments.

What i've tried to say is that i was unable to reproduce the issue that you've described, but while trying to reproduce it i've found the strange behaviour of DO when i need to re-apply the DO settings to make DO work properly while AWM is running.

When i said about 3rd party software it was relate to your case. As we can assume, some of your applications may interact with AWM and not let DO gain focus. Could you disable all of your programs except DO and AWM and check whether the problem still persists?

 Hello Kelly.

Please try to re-apply the "double-click on desktop" option of DO. While it doesn't work and AWM is enabled, disable the option, apply, enable it again, apply and check whether it solves the problem.
