Thanks. I tried the beta but I'm afraid I have the same issue whilst starting - explorer still hangs.

Whatever it's doing, it doesn't seem to be consuming many cpu cycles. Is there a log or a way of finding out what it's trying to do?

On the plus side, the revamped configuration interface looks a lot neater.

Mark,

Does Explorer hang or crash? In any case, does the system show the dialog offering to send the error report to Microsoft? If it's so then please click the Send button so that we could analyze the extended information on the problem generated by Windows.

Sorry for the inconveniences.

It hangs. Sorry, no diagnostic data. All the event log says is:

The program Explorer.EXE version 6.1.7601.17567 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control

and in the details

Hello Mark,

What antivirus and firewall systems do you use?

What system utilities and tweaks do you use?

What OS are you running (version, x32 or x64)?

Best regards.

Hello Mark,

Thanks for the response.

Could you disable these applications one by one and check whether disabling one of these applications solves the problem or not?

I advise you to begin with Zemana AntiLogger, Zemana AntiMalware (manual scans only), BeeThink IPBlocker and Spyder3Utility.

Best regards.

Hi

The ones you mentioned didn't seem to make any difference but StarDock Deskscapes did. I switched to a standard wallpaper and AMM seem to load ok.

When I first started using AMM (see start of thread) I certainly had an issue when trying to tweak the screen settings via your options when Deskscapes was running.

Oddly, after restarting explorer both applications seem to function ok together. Is it something to do with the order of starting programs? i.e. if AMM starts before Deskscapes?

Regards
Mark

- It seems to depend on the order of starting programs. We'll investigate this.

Best regards.
