Hello,
I've recently tried using the virtual desktop feature of AWM and I've run into an issue with certain programs. It seems that some single instance programs (such as Firefox) can interact badly with the virtual desktop logic and force a desktop switch when the user attempts to execute a second instance. This happens regardless of the “Auto-switch desktops” option in AWM.
For example:
1) Start Firefox on virtual desktop 1.
2) Switch to virtual desktop 2.
3) Try executing the Firefox shortcut again (via quick launch or desktop shortcut).
4) This will create a new Firefox window on desktop 2 (like it should). But it will also simultaneously switch back to desktop 1 (or whatever desktop Firefox was originally started on).
In the case of Firefox, this doesn’t happen if you create a new window from within Firefox, or if you middle click the taskbar button (in Windows 7). This of course requires that a window already be open on that desktop (or the shortcut is pinned in Windows 7). This issue does not occur with other virtual desktop software (such as Dexpot or VirtuaWin), but they don’t seem to interact well with the AWM taskbar(s).
This happens with AWM 6.6 & 6.7 beta 1 on Windows 7 x64 using Firefox 7.0.1.
Thanks.

Thanks for the post.
The problem has been confirmed.
We'll try to fix it.
Best regards.

I am having the same sort of problem. I left the Virtual Desktop option "Auto-Switch Desktop" unchecked so that the active desktop would not switch but that does not prevent this from happening. In fact, i have tried several times to check and uncheck that option and the save icon on the configuration screen remains greyed-out. In any event, I hope that this can be fixed soon.

UPDATE: Oh man, do I feel like a dummy! In my case, this is not an AWM problem at all, but a Firefox issue. It is easy to fix, at least in my case. By changing a couple of settings in about:config in Firefox that control how FF opens tabs, I was able to fix the problem. The screenshot below shows the settings that I changed that fixed this for me. I highlighted the settings that I changed.
