Just a short question: How do I import previously saved settings in AWM if I have re-installed my operating system?
Either I'm blind but I couldn't find any menu item which would allow that...and I wouldn't want to re-do all AWM settigs

Hello,
Sorry for the delay with replying.
Of course, this is possible but, unfortunately, there is no such service in the program itself. We plan to implement it in the near future.
For now, just back up to contents of the folder
Code
[i]%AppData%\Actual Tools\Actual Window Manager[/i]
(simply copy-paste this string into the "Address" box of any
Windows Explorer
window) and then restore it after the re-installation.

Hi Alexey, I think that for a program like AWM where we do a lot of tweaking, importing/exporting configurations is an important feature. I'm surprised that it's had not been added to the program yet...

Hello Alexey,
I am running a trial at the moment and have just tried this out by first exporting my settings (WindowRules.ini) out to a zip file on my desktop.
Then I made a change in AWM (deactivated a Specific setting) and then saved my settings again. I then exited AWM completly.
I then replaced the WindowRules.ini file in:
C:\Users\Jimbo\AppData\Roaming\Actual Tools\Actual Window Manager
(I am using Windows 7 64Bit Ult) - with the one I exported out to the desktop so that I could see my old configuration again.
When I re-opened AWM I now see that I have no Specific settings rules at all apart from the default Skype rule??? I have even checked the WindowRules.ini file in Notepad and searced for evidence of the rules that I had created - they are there so why can't I see them in the GUI? Very strange - I have not edited any file that might cause contamination.
I am using AWm version 6.3 - I am half way through my trial so a fix for this would be good before I purchase. I will defintiley have the need to be able to export and import settings. I will be using Specific settings rule to build different configurations for pop-up panels in Flight Simulator 2004 and FSX - when I change plane I will need to use a different set of rules.
It would be so much easier to have a properly working import and export function to make my life easier - it looks like you were asked well over a year ago to include this feature in the product - is there any sign of it please?
Thanks for your assistance.
Kind regards,
James Gillies

Hello there,
I think I have found the answer to this Alexey.
The exported WindowRuoles.ini file (contained in the zip) when extracted has no modification date applied to the file. I fyou open the file in Notepad then make a change to the file (I added a space at the very beginning of the file and then deleted it) and save it then you get an up-to-date time stamp on the file.
When I then re-open AWM I can now see all my old rules!
Job done for now, but a decent Import function would still be much easier, thanks a lot.
Kind regards,
James Gillies
