I've got an unusual window that I can create settings for by locating it while its running. I set the position and size. Sometimes switching monitors disturbs windows and this is one of them. But the app does not have standard window controls or menus. I can focus on it and use Win+F5, but it does nothing. I can't find any other method of sending a signal to the window.

Hello, ron
Thank you for contacting us.

What is this application? Could you provide a link?
Do you mean the settings are not applied only when using Win+F5? Are they applied upon start of our software or of this app?

BWMeter -
https://www.hexagonwebs.com/bwmeter
Correct, Win+F5 does nothing. There are two different windows, each with unique titles. I created rules for each. I can drag them around - out of their normal position - and Win+F5 does not restore their location.
The app saves on exit and restores its own default size/location when started. Thus there's nothing for AWM to do.
I just exited AWM. Then moved one window out of its default position. Then restarted AWM. No change.

As I can see the traffic monitoring windows of BWMeter are affected by AWM correctly - the settings are applied to them and the reapply action also works. Moreover, they do have title bar although it's not conventional - if I click with the right mouse button on the caption bar of this window the menu appears and it has AWM items.
Do you start BWMeter with elevated rights (UAC dialogue usually appears in this case)?
If yes, then the windows are not affected probably because the "Support system utilities and administrative tools" option wasn't enabled during the installation of Actual Window Manager. Try to reinstall the program and enable the option during installation. You can install it right over the already installed version - your other settings won't be changed.

That's interesting. Mine run borderless
Right-click/Window/Caption/Borderless. So I changed it to normal. When I right click on the caption, I still get the normal BWMeter window.
I am running 8.49 though. They were bought out a few years ago and I never went to 9.x.
I checked task manager, it IS running elevated. In its settings it's configured to run on startup. I can see in Task Scheduler that it runs as admin from there so no UAC on boot.
Is there a way to check for the "Support System Utilities" option without reinstalling. I think I've always checked that option.

To see whether the option is enabled you can run any application with elevated rights and see whether it's processed by our software. For example you can start the Registry Editor application (Win+R, then type regedit in the "Run" window, press Enter). Make sure Default Settings are enabled.

Thanks for the tip/reminder about that option. I had not enabled it. Since reinstalling with that enabled the window has not moved from it's original location or changed in size. Usually when switching the KVM from a laptop to my desktop it would be in he middle of the screen and smaller. But not every time.
So I've not had a need to use Win+F5 since enabling the setting. So - I drug the window into the middle of the screen myself and hit Win+F5. Works great. So if the KVM switching does eventually land me in that predicament, I can recover quickly.
Thanks again!

Just following up that this is working great since reinstalling with that option to support system utilities. Finally encountered some instances where the KVM switch left windows in a weird size/location. In most cases - maybe it's a timing thing - Windows seems to send a signal to all windows that is the equivalent of the window being created. Because ALL my AWM windows instantly resize and reposition perfectly - including BWMeter now.
On a couple of occasions I guess the signal was not sent or received so I took your tip from another post about adding a hotkey to pause/resume AWM. That worked perfectly.
