Hello all!

I recently added two monitors to my set-up, after which AMM continued to manage the background pics for about a day, after that, it has since displayed only a solid black background. If I right-click on the desktop, I still have the option 'Next slide' and 'Open slide' but no slide is actually displayed.

I am not certain what info may be needed, but I will provide hardware and software as such:

Software:
- Windows 8.1 Pro x64
- Actual Multiple Monitors 8.11
I have other 'Windows enhancing' software installed, these are:
- Stardock Start8 1.56
- Ultramon 3.3.0

total of five (5) monitors:
Dell U2410, 1200x1920
Dell U2412M, 1920x1200
BenQ G2400W, 1920x1200
ViewSonic VA721, 1280x1024
AOC e950Sw, 1366x768

hardware:
2x Intel Xeon X5687
48GB RAM
SuperMicro X8DT3
Nvidia GTX670 2GB, either latest or second latest driver
AMD HD5450 (HIS branded, comes from the factory as PCIEx1), latest driver

Given that it alll worked for a day, I am hesitant to 'blame' any single thing.

Any ideas on how to resolve? TIA!

Hello, M G

What are your background slideshow settings?

Have you tried to re-adjust them after you've added two monitors?

Have you tried to temporarily disconnect the newly added monitors and see whether it solves the problem?

Best regards.

Hello Bogdan!

as follows:

individual picture on each monitor

Dell U2410, 1200x1920 - slideshow, 10min interval, random play order, centre position, 'portrait wallpaper' folder
Dell U2412M, 1920x1200 - slideshow, 3min interval, random play order, centre position, 'desktop background' folder
BenQ G2400W, 1920x1200 - slideshow, 3min interval, random play order, centre position, 'desktop background' folder
ViewSonic VA721, 1280x1024 - slideshow, 3min interval, random play order, centre position, 'desktop background' folder
AOC e950Sw, 1366x768 - slideshow, 3min interval, random play order, centre position, 'desktop background' folder

I think I did try re-adjust.
Have not tried temp. disconnect.

M G,

Could you try to set on some of your monitors as background one by one the following:
1) Solid Color - go to the background settings section of AMM, select "Static" background mode, make sure the "Picture file" field is empty, select some Color other than black and hit Apply.
2) Static picture - in the same section now specify some picture file from the folder you specified as the source of slideshow pictures. Hit Apply. Try some different pictures from this folder.
3) Slideshow - now set slideshow with the same folders you specified previously. Delete the folder from the list and specify again. Hit Apply. If the slideshow doesn't work, then try to specify some other pictures folder.

Let us know the results: what background settings from this list you were able to apply succesfully and what don't work.

What happens when you click the "Next Slide"?

Best regards.

Bogdan, I'm having the same issue.

I can get to item number 2 on your list of things to do and when I try to set a single image from my folder of images in "static" mode, the monitor backgrounds got back to a solid black color (even after setting a custom color as instructed in step 1.  If I open my windows 10 background settings, it is set to "solid color" and black.  If I change that to anything else... to show a picture or a different color, when I go back into AMM to follow your steps, the result repeat themselves... no image and background set to black.

Hello, Royce

What OS are you running (version, 32- or 64-bit)?

What version of Actual Multiple Monitors are you running?

Could you install the latest version 8.11.1 and see whether the issue is still there.

Do you mean the background slideshow doesn't work on your monitors? Did it also start after connecting additional monitors?

Are there "Next slide" and "Open slide" items in the desktop context menu? What happens when you click "Next Slide"?

Unfortunately I'm using 8.10.2 and my employer doesn't want to allow me to upgrade.
Windows 10 64-bit is my OS.

I can get the background slideshow to work only for my current login session.  When I log out and log back in, Windows 10 sets my background back to "solid color" and not (I'm guessing) what AMM needs to work properly (Slideshow?).

Royce,

Previously you wrote that the monitor gone black every time you tried to set a single image in "static" mode. Now you write that Windows 10 sets background to solid color on every log out/log in. Which of these statements is true and if they're both true, then how are they associated?

You don't have to purchase to test. Even with the expired trial mode the program works 30 minutes a day which is enough to check whether the problem persists.

What background settings the configuration module of AMM shows after the background goes black (close and open the configuration module after the problem happens and see the settings)?
