Hello,

the feature "block premature appearance of window" option never works.
Does anyone know why? Nothing changes, if I activate it or not.
Isn't this feature compatible with Windows 8.1 or is there another trick?

best regards
Nils

Hello Nils,

Thanks for the post.

Could you specify our product (name, version) and an application you are trying to use the option with?
Could you also provide a more detailed description of the problem?
What exactly doesn't work in the "Block premature appearance of window" option?

Best regards.

Same here. That option never seems to make a difference for me. Example:

Win8.1 Pro x64
AWM 8.2.2
WebSite-Watcher 14.3

I have a few bookmarks in WebSite-Watcher that use the Internet Explorer engine. What is annoying is that when these bookmarks run, an IE window flashes on screen. I have attempted to make these windows 100% transparent and ghosted, so they don't annoy me. But I still see them pop up.

I have tried the "block premature appearance" setting with and without "compatibility mode" also selected.

Details of the window I am targeting:

Window class: TFormAignesWsw1
Window caption (exact match): WebSite-Watcher IE
Program: \wswie.exe

Options:

At startup, make 100% transparent, and ghost. All other options are off, including title bar buttons and menu items.

By the way this option breaks Comodo Firewall LOG from opening.

Thankfully checking "Compatibility mode" fixes it.

Of course I forgot all about checking said checkboxes to begin with so took me awhile to realize it.

Wonder what "Compatibility mode" does?

In my experience, "Compatibility Mode" did absolutely nothing.

I don't use AWM at all anymore though, so I am no longer interested.

Will,

The "Block premature appearance of window" option doesn't allow a window to draw itself before actions such as resize, reposition etc. were completed. The "Compatibility mode" option allows a window to draw itself but in a 0x0 pixels rectangle and then (after actions) redraw it.
