I've sent you the requested screenshots, which explains what the problem is but not why.

The Properties for the primary/Windows/working jumplist are as you'd expect, with the details for MetaPad.

However, the Properties for the secondary/AMM/not-working jumplist are surprising: the General tab is for a .lnk file that doesn't exist:
 C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Utilities\MetaPad.lnk
(which explains why there's no icon.) This shortcut almost certainly did exist at one time, but it's not there now.

If I create this shortcut, by copying a MetaPad shortcut to the Utilities folder, the AMM MetaPad taskbar icon now works properly, and if I delete the shortcut the problem returns.

The real question is why is AMM trying to use a non-existent shortcut to obtain the MetaPad properties? Where is it getting the reference to this non-existent shortcut? I searched the registry and didn't find any reference to this shortcut.

Thanks.

Hello J W

We've received your screenshots.

AMM is trying to use non-existent shortcut because the system returns this value to the AMM request. The system stores this value somewhere and somehow this shortcut disappeared, but the system itself make the check - checks whether this shortcut exists, and creates the new one if the shortcut doesn't exist. That's why the correct icon is displayed on the system taskbar. AMM for now doesn't make this check.

For now create this shortcut manually.

We'll try to implement the similar check in our programs.

Best regards.

Hello Bogdan,

AMM must be making a different request than Windows, because the shortcut that Windows uses for the taskbar icon is:
 C:\Users\[my-user]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar\MetaPad.lnk
which make sense, but is different from the one AMM is trying to use:
 C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Utilities\MetaPad.lnk

I will workaround the problem by creating this second shortcut, but I hope AMM will fix the problem of using the wrong shortcut.

Thanks.

Hello J W

I'd like to inform you that the subject issue has been fixed. The fix is available in the Actual Multiple Monitors new version 5.1.1.

Best regards.
