Could you also launch 32-bit version of cmd.exe through the Windows Explorer and see whether it is affected by AWM? It is placed in the same directory: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\cmd.exe.

Tim,

Then create a new user account in the system, log on to it and try to reproduce the issue without changing any settings in the involved programs. Try to reproduce this with the programs you initially had this issue and also with 32-bit version of notepad. Let us know the results.

Sorry for the delay.  I created the new user profile and AWM affected both Ztree and Notepad as it should including programs run fr om Ztree like xnview.  So the problem could be somewh ere buried (probably deep) in some obscure security setting or perhaps some conflict with one of the (many) installed background programs and services.

Tim,

Could you see whether the ZTW.INI file is in the %appdata% directory (%appdata%\ZTreeWin). If yes, then could you replace the mentioned .ini file in the newly created account by the one from your usual account where you have problems. See whether the problem appears in the newly created account - launch 32-bit version of notepad within ZTreeWin and see whether it is affected.

If there is no ZTW.INI file and folder called ZTreeWin in the %appdata% directory, then this file can be found in the ZTreeWin installation directory (C:\ZTreeWin by default). Send this file to support@actualtools.com and add a link to this topic to the email.

Also could you try to install the latest version of ZTreeWinn and see whether the problem still presists.

Hello.

The replacement of the ini file made no difference.  I upgraded to v2.4166 (latest version just released).  No difference.  Based on these results, I don't believe the problem is with Ztree.

Yes, seems that the problem is related to some of your system settings, and it's very hard for us to figure out what exactlty settings trigger this. The only thing we can advise you is to create the new Windows account instead of your current one.
