New Actual Window Manager 5.1 introduces Virtual Desktops facility.

VANCOUVER, Canada – June 2008: Actual Tools, the leading provider of desktop productivity software, today announces Actual Window Manager 5.1, the newest version of its tool for enhancing windows navigation and management with new abilities, now presenting Virtual Desktops facility.

Virtual Desktops facility provides software emulation of several logical instances of Windows desktop; such instances can be imagined as a stack of "screen pages". Each such "page" can contain windows and can have its own custom wallpaper. Virtual desktops provide a "virtual" space, in which you can group your applications' windows thus reducing desktop clutter.

For example, your email client and browser applications go to the first virtual desktop, all your chat and IRC windows - to the second, your text editor and spreadsheet - to the third etc. (You can create as many virtual desktops as you wish.) Having all this, you can choose which group of windows is visible at a moment, and switch between those groups as the need arises. Moreover, each desktop can have its own custom wallpaper for instant visual identification, which desktop is currently active. Moving a window between desktops is available via a customizable hotkey, a special item in window's system menu, and a specially designated additional button in window's caption.
